Danco Island (64° 43'S, 62° 36'W). Most people didn't land initially as it was difficult to find a good landing site. We started our morning by cruising the bay where we found some fantastic sculptured icebergs. It was snowing but the views made it worth while. Most in our zodiac went back to ship but Peter went ashore for a walk up a hill at the site of the old British Danco Island station (1956-1959). Nothing remains of the station after it was demolished in 2004 but the front porch and a plaque. There were many Gentoo penguins in various rookeries as well as a number of Skuas huntung for eggs or lost chicks.
Following lunch whilst the ship motored onwards, we went out for an afternon cruise in the zodiacs along the western shore of Enterprise Island in Foyn Harbour (64° 33'S, 61° 59'W). The weather was rough but all were accustomed to that by now. This bay had the wreck of ship that was carrying whale oil. The captain intentionally grounded it to save crew after fire broke out on board. The opposite shore had 2 timber water boat wrecks. There was surf breaking on the outermost iceberg. After another fantastic dinner, we sang Christmas Carols in bar whilst eating a sumptuous dessert. Fairly rough crossing overnight.
