Feliz Año Nuevo...
Today we drove to Puerto Natales via La Leona.
We bumped into Ian and Robyn (from the Voyage) at the La Leona wayside shop, heading to El Charlten. We ate empanada and cherries from El Calafate on the way.
The border crossing was 2 small settlements, 12 km apart. The actual border was 2 km from Argentinian customs.
That afternoon we walked 1km into the township of Puerte Natales from our bayside hotel, for a look. This town is a sea and river port, famous and prospered in it's early trade in sheep and cattle. Today tourism is the big buisness offering access to the famous Torres Del Paine National Park with it's "W" walk.
We had a nice meal of pizza, pasta and beer with Lelia.
